EVERGREEN HOME EDUCATION--THE BEGINNING

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you for visiting Evergreen Home Education!   Our commitment to home education began in 1994 when our oldest child came into the world. Her education began in the home when she was born. She learned how to walk and talk and fold her hands in prayer to God.  We saw no reason to change things when she became "school age".  Thus, her "formal" education began at the age of 3, when I started using a Preschool workbook series with her at the dining room table.  We lived in Japan then and our access to educational supplies was limited.  But, we had two thick workbooks (Pre-K and K) that I had purchased at a wholesale store before moving overseas.  And, during visits to the U.S., I picked up a few additional resources that kept us going.After returning to the U.S. in 2001 with our two children (then 5 and 1), we quickly realized that there was a lot more available to us as home educators than a few "mass-market" workbooks.  For me, the "thrill of pursuit" began!  Perhaps, an obsession; perhaps, a hobby!  Either way, it led me to some wonderful discoveries.  And my husband found some along the way too.
These days, we are a family of 5 (our 3rd child was born in 2003) and we are still dedicated to schooling at home. We are also dedicated to living on less and learning how to improve our "cents & centsibilities" as each day passes. Over the last few years, I have desired to share our knowledge with, and to learn from, other families like us. Thus,  this site  was designed  in order to spread the word, to encourage others, to recommend resources (old favorites and new discoveries), to share the love of thrift, and so much more.
 Please join us for the ride, and  bear with  me  as  I  build  the site that will share this vision.
Blessings,
Cara
